Sire (per source): Appaloosa Dam (per source): Thoroughbred Owned by Gene Shelton, A and S Cattle Company, Wichita Falls, Texas A little bit of followup from JoAnne (Freeman) Hemming: A “cousins reunion” in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 2011, put me in touch with Albert Freeman, the son of a man I had always known of as Uncle Sid.  Sid Freeman was actually my late father’s uncle.  Sid was a child when his family immigrated to Saskatchewan from England in about 1908 to homestead on the Canadian prairie. Imagine my surprise when, after I came home, I “googled” Sid Freeman and your site came up with the entry [of Squaw Sox S]: I had always heard stories about Uncle Sid’s appaloosa and in fact, I had asked my 85 year old cousin [Albert Freeman] about it last summer at the reunion: “Beautiful horse, my fathers pride and joy. “ said Albert. “Broke Albert’s heart when they sold that horse to some folks from Texas.” injected his wife, Doreen. “Last time I rode her was in a parade in Moose Jaw”, Albert continued.  "They wanted her in the parade, so they did, but I was the only one could ride her besides my father.  Went out to Archive and rode her in to town  the night before.  She kicked up a helluva racket all night out in the shed behind our house, so she did, but I got her saddled up and away we went in the morning.” Doreen again picked up the story.  “Scared the life out of me that day.  Albert got one boot in the stirrup but when he went to swing up, that horse took off like a shot.  I was afraid he’d be killed.  I was working at Eaton’s then and when the parade came up Main Street we all went to the windows to watch.  I was so scared that horse would be spooked by all the people and noise on either side but Albert handled him fine.  What a sight it was!   That horse was prancing up that street sideways.  I don’t know who was prouder – me, Albert or that Appaloosa.” I don’t know if that horse was the “Squaw Sox S” mentioned in your list but if not, it must have been a relative.  Thanks for the confirming information on your site which I will add to the Freeman family history I am writing.
